Caffeine Water UK: Is It Safe and How to Choose One

Quick answer: caffeine water is water with added caffeine, usually still and low in sugar. It's safe for most healthy adults as long as your total caffeine stays under 400mg a day. The best ones state the caffeine per can clearly and keep sugar under 5g.

What is caffeine water?

Caffeine water, or caffeinated water, is flavoured or plain water with caffeine added, often from plant sources such as green coffee or tea. Some versions add electrolytes and vitamins, which is where it overlaps with energy water.

Is caffeine water safe?

Who Guidance
Healthy adults Up to 400mg a day, and up to 200mg in one go
Pregnant women Under 200mg a day
Under-16s Not recommended

Count everything: a mug of instant coffee is about 100mg, so two of those plus a 125mg can is still well within 400mg. Drinks with more than 150mg per litre must carry a "high caffeine content" warning in the UK.

Natural vs synthetic caffeine

Caffeine is the same molecule whether it comes from a coffee bean or a lab, and it works the same way. "Natural caffeine" tells you the source, not that it's gentler. The dose matters far more. More in natural vs synthetic caffeine.

How to choose a caffeine water

  • Caffeine per can stated clearly, not just per 100ml.
  • Sugar under 5g a can.
  • Still, if you want to sip it through the day.
  • Useful extras like electrolytes, listed with amounts.

Where PÜRCHARGE fits

PÜRCHARGE is a still caffeine water with 125mg of caffeine from green coffee per 330ml can (38mg per 100ml), 3.8g of sugar, stevia, L-theanine (from green tea extract), enXtra®, rhodiola, Panax ginseng, electrolytes, nine vitamins. Caffeine contributes to increased alertness and improved concentration. Not for under-16s, pregnant or breastfeeding women. Max two cans a day.

FAQs

Is caffeinated water bad for you?

Not for most healthy adults in sensible amounts. Keep your total caffeine under 400mg a day and avoid it if you're pregnant, under 16 or sensitive to caffeine.

How much caffeine water can I drink a day?

Work it out from the can. At 125mg a can, two cans is 250mg, which leaves room for a coffee within the 400mg guideline.

Does caffeine water dehydrate you?

It's mostly water, and research suggests moderate amounts of caffeine don't cause dehydration. It's still not a replacement for plain water through the day.
